The First Trimester...

~Surprise~
2/4 ~ Officially "late", two positive pregnancy tests... possitively pregnant!

A visit to my doctor for a little of this a little of that (needles n such), checking my pregnancy hormone levels, it's offical... medically pregnant! They called me a few days later saying that my hormones levels are "the best you could ask for" & "one of the highest they've seen"... this is calming news since I had progesterone shots for the first couple of months with Eli.

~So Sick~
I can't even begin to explain how sick I am... imagine the stomach flu times 100,000,000... now add in unimaginable fatigue, and an attention craving toddler!

~Baby On The Brain~
Eli and I were getting ready and showering to head out for the day and I thought it was a good time to get his feelings on the whole baby matter...
"Eli, you know how Zach has a baby sister, and Wyatt has a baby brother?"
"Yeah."
"Well, would YOU like a baby brother or sister?"
"Me mommy? A baby? Not in the shower!"

~The UNFORGETTABLE Ultrasound~

2/24 : Had an appointment to get an updated ultrasound on my ovaries. Pre-pregnancy I had been having pain from cysts. The doctor wanted to also do a baby wellness ultrasound, you know, while we're at it...

((This is when things get fuzzy, so excuse the randomness!))

Kelly (the ultrasound tech) shows me one beautiful healthy fluttering heartbeat, she pauses, looks down at me, and says something abooooooout...

Prepared for something.....?
First to tell me something......?
Something about something....?

Kelly: "And heeeeeere, is another healthy strong heartbeat!"

Me: "Nooooo?! What?!"

Kelly: "Yep, I know it's a shock!"

Me: "I need Adam!"

She then goes on talking about "Twin A & Twin B" taking her ultrasound pictures, laadeedaa, nooooo biggy! I'm staring at the ceiling, not sure if I'm breathing, literally asking myself if I am awake, is THIS for real?

Kelly: "See, here is Twin A, and here is Twin B...."

Me: "You keep saying THAT!"

Kelly: "Yeah, you'll get used to it."

Oh yes, this would be a good time to point out I was not alone. I had a patient toddler sitting in a chair off to the side, reading a book.

Eli: "Mommy, whats those boogiemans on dat ladies computer?!"

7 wks 6 days but measuring 8 wks 4 days

Waiting in the waiting room to then see the doctor after my ultrasound. I collected myself enough to show Eli the "boogieman" pictures and together we counted...

"One baby, two babies!"

Saw the doctor, don't remember anything she said other than "Well this explains why you've been so sick!"....

Getting into the car (Jeep Commander now seemed like a Matchbox car when I thought about TWINS in the backseat... The entire world became too small in moments!)

Eli was totally intune to me & what I was feeling...he asked me "Mommy, you scared of one two babies?"

~Gotta Tell The Grands!~
Adam and I decided we HAD to tell my parents as soon as possible! Some very busy weeks ahead for the flower business and I've been so sick, unless I'm going to go into hiding we have to share our surprise!

Eli hoped out of the car and ran to Grandma saying "Mommy has 2 babies in her belly!" My mom didn't fully understand what he said but knew SOMETHING was up.

It was so not creative, but give me a break, me head was still spinning. I had found out about the twins less than 3 hours earlier. We literally sat on the couch and said...

"Ok, we have something exciting to tell you guys! I'm due in October!"

*Excitement*

Me: "I'll get you a picture!"

My mom literally looked at the picture for 2 seconds and said "Is THAT twins?!"

Me: "Yep!"

Donnie: "No way! Are you serious?!"
(That would be the first of the counltess "are you serious?!" reactions)

Donnie is tearfully excited :)

My Mom immediately 'feels for me', leans against the wall and tries to catch her breath! I'm pretty sure she said "Oh my gosh..." about a thousand times randomly throughout the rest of the day!

~Announcements~

Very few friends know I'm prego, I made these announcements to mail off to family when I hit the 12 week mark :)

~Wish We Had Taped It!~
We told Danny, Karen, Patty, Hanan, Carly & Ally at Broadway Pizza Bar during one of Adams open mic night gigs. Danny had already figured out that we were sharing that we were having a baby but he was in for a surprise!

I handed Danny & Patty one of the announcements I made and waited for them to get to the TWIN picture...

Danny: "Yeah, I knew it! Congratulations that's awesome..."

Us: "Keep going!"

(Patty is crying...)

The moment Danny & Karen flip to the twin picture both of their bodies jumped a foot off the chair and they simultaneously said "WHAT?!" followed by the famous "Are you serious?!"

(Tears all around, but Patty is pure waterworks...)

~Let's Talk About ME For A Minute~
I wrote a novel, read it over, and deleted it. I've been sick, stressed, and somewhat depressed. My words came purely from those emotions. I like to 'keep it real' but as Adam put it: If I concentrate on the stress' in life right now it's hard not to feel like I'm on a sinking ship. So I decided to jump ship, and take an ocean dip :)

I came accross this quote at the very moment I needed to hear it.

*Love, God*

~Getting Prepared~
Planning seems to be the ONLY thing that calms my nerves. My mom keeps telling me "You have time" & "People are going to be generous, let them help".... Let's face it, I don't have time (not nearly enough!) and sorry but I'm not depending on others generousity to make life with twins any easier.

If it takes a village, I'm in need of TWO!

First Twin Purchase: CraigsList deal, less than a year old, pretty much new @ 1/2 the price :)
Whoop Whoop!
Double Stroller, 2 Infant Seats, 4 Bases

3/26 ~ 12 wk doctor visit. I got to hear one beautiful little heartbeat (the other was hiding!) it was in the 152 range... hmmm, I've heard old wive tales that would say thats a boy, we'll see!

My Kid Says The Darndest Things :)

People always warn a new parent to be careful because one day your lil' one will repeat everything you say... well, they were right!

Stupid Dog:
One day, hanging out in the backyard throwin' the ball with Sunni, I see her ears perk up and that 'I'm-gonna-take-off' look in her eyes a split second be she.... took off!
All the way down the road, to the neighbor she spotted just getting started on a walk with her pup. Of course my immediate reaction is yelling at her in my 'if-I-speak-like-this-she-might-actually-listen-to-me' voice... when the threats of a Sunni style time-out didn't work I simply said "Stupid Dog!" told Eli to park it in a chair and went after Sunni.

After literally dragging her home, she goes to time-out, and Eli & I go about our outside fun. Our neighbor's walk brings her past our back yard, where she stops to talk to Eli & I. The first thing out of Eli's mouth is "Is dat your tupid dog?!"

I didn't realize what he had said at first, and just chalked it down to toddler talk but when I firgured it out, haha, baaaad mommy!

To this day Eli still refers to Sunni as his "Tupid Dog".

Dip Sh*t:
Once again, our lovely dog Sunni is up to no good. She is always in your face, the kind of dog you can't pet without her climbing her way up your lap grasping at your flesh for dear life, refusing to just relax and get paid attention to...

It was in one of these moments, that I let the potty mouth slip.... "Sunni, you're such a dip shit!"

Well, haha, baaaaad mommy!

The next few moments where filled with questions from my two and a half year old asking me if (everything on the sun) was a dip shit.

Eli:
"Is da darden a dip shit?"
"Is Daddy a dip shit?"
"Is Gama a dip shit?"
etc.

Me:
"No Sweetie, just Sunni."

I'm starting to get the feeling this dog is up to something!

Joy...

Joy is defined as : A feeling of great pleasure and hapiness.

This is how I'd define it...

"No MaMa, E's!"...

As if he wasn't sweet enough... We've added chocolate :)
If you ask Eli how many M&M's he wants, he'll answer
"6, 7, 8, 9, 10! Biiiiig one, In da bowl!"
But there was a wonderful surprise waiting in his big bowl of "Ema, M's"...

"No MaMa!" (excited gasp) "E's!"
